Hello, I’m Renee, founder of The Movement Library. The Movement Library has been a long time coming. I have always felt connected to the freedom, curiosity, and release that movement offers to our mind and body. I started dancing when I was seven and at 21 I studied at The London Contemporary Dance School for three years. Since graduating university I have worked professionally for dance companies and brands worldwide.
In 2019 I was at a crossroads in my life and seeking purpose. My love of dance and movement led me to do my 500-hour yoga teacher training at Sattva Yoga Academy in India, which was a profound experience. In learning and practising during my training, I came to a more raw and deeper understanding of myself, my body and this life – an understanding that always continues to evolve and change.
After my yoga teacher training, I was inspired to share these practices with others. For a while I saw yoga and dance as two separate journeys and It took a few years to integrate it all. For me now yoga and dance are not separate, they are two guides which move seamlessly along side one another and move us towards embodied awareness. This is how The Movement Library was born.
The Movement Library offers yoga, breath-work, meditation, and free movement classes. Weaving my experience and continuous studies from dance, the yogic teachings, and different movement modalities. In these sessions my intention is to always encourage people to bring their awareness down into the body, to listen, explore, and discover the wisdom within. As we show up in our daily practice, we meet ourselves exactly where we are at and allow our movement, breath and stillness to guide us through all our layers of our being and to honour whatever arises.
The Movement Library is a online space where you can practice at your own time and at your own pace. Experience alignment and balance, movement and stillness, and reclaim the poetry of their own movement. When we become more in tune with ourselves and our energetic system we relate to the world in a more integrated and centred way.
Starting can be the hardest part- The Movement Library is a space for you to start again and again! We can get caught up in what makes a "proper" practice. What really matters is theres always an invitation.
